Below is a list of Nigerian newspapers that have national circulation. There are some regional print newspapers also included in the list.

Vanguard

Vanguard is a daily newspaper published by Vanguard Media, based in Lagos, Nigeria. Vanguard Media was established in 1983 by veteran journalist Sam Amuka-Pemu with three friends. The paper has an online edition.

The Punch

The Punch is a Nigerian daily newspaper founded in 1971.

The Nation

The Nation is a daily newspaper published in Lagos, Nigeria. According to a 2009 survey, it was the second-most-read newspaper in Nigeria, and this result was repeated in a 2011 report by The Advertisers’ Association of Nigeria. It is one of the leading media companies in Nigeria.

ThisDay

THISDAY is a Nigerian national newspaper. It is the flagship newspaper of Leaders & Company Ltd and was first published on 22 January 1995. It has its headquarters in Apapa, Lagos, Lagos State. Founded by Nduka Obaigbena, the Chairman & Editor-in-Chief of the THISDAY Media Group and ARISE News Channel.

The Sun

The Daily Sun is a Nigerian daily print newspaper founded and published in KiriKiri Industrial Layout, Lagos, Nigeria. As of 2011, The Sun had a daily print run of 130,000 copies, and 135,000 for weekend titles, with an average of 80% sales. This made The Sun the highest selling newspaper in Nigeria.

P.M. News is a daily newspaper published in Lagos, Nigeria by the Independent Communications Network Limited. The company also publishes the weekly TheNEWS magazine and Tempo, a tabloid.

Nigerian Tribune

The Nigerian Tribune is an English-language newspaper published in Ibadan in Nigeria. It was established in 1949 by Obafemi Awolowo and is the oldest surviving private Nigerian newspaper. In the colonial era, the newspaper served as the mouthpiece for Awolowo’s populist welfare programs.

Business Day

Business Day, established in 2001, is a daily business newspaper based in Lagos. It is the only Nigerian newspaper with a bureau in Accra, Ghana. It has both daily and Sunday titles. It circulates in Nigeria and Ghana.

Daily Times of Nigeria

The Daily Times is a newspaper with headquarters in Lagos. At its peak, in the 1970s, it was one of the most successful locally-owned businesses in Africa. The paper went into decline after it was purchased by the government in 1975. What was left was sold to a private investor in 2004.

The Tide

The Tide is a Nigerian daily newspaper. It is the most widely circulated newspaper published in Rivers State and one of Nigeria’s major newspapers. Owned and funded by the state, The Tide began printing operations on 1 December 1971 and has a digital version.

Osun Defender

The Osun Defender founded in 2006, is a privately owned tabloid newspaper that publishes news about Osun State, Nigeria, as well as national and other news. It is published by Moremi Publishing House Ltd, of Osogbo, Osun State. Kola Olabisi is the managing editor.

Nigerian Observer

The Nigerian Observer is a daily newspaper published in Benin City, Edo State, Nigeria. It has been published since 29 May 1968. The publisher, Bendel Newspapers Company Limited, is owned by the Edo State Government.

National Mirror Newspapers

The National Mirror is a daily newspaper published in Nigeria. It has a tabloid format. The National Mirror was founded by Prince Emeka Obasi in 2006. Editions include the Daily Mirror, Saturday Mirror and Sunday Mirror. In August 2008 Barrister Jimoh Ibrahim acquired 100% of the shares of the National Mirror.
